Upon the Forest Field a Fallen

Fire Flaming

Upon the Forest Field a Fallen

Fire licking starlight flames

Upon the ground of earthy veins

Lightning strikes and those abound

To catch it as it’s lurking ‘round

Gather forth the hose and pump

Stir the mighty embers dust

The vital course it takes is fast

The path of black it leaves is last

Tragic is the tree that’s lost

But there within the moments cost

Of what was wrought and what refined

The fire takes its own in time

I would not plant thy hither tree

Upon the plain where fires be

But if that lust should there abide

I’d give it forth, for its own time

For fires not a foe at all

But time itself and motions call

What could forever in this life be

If that would stop the call from thee

Be it more a pleasure prayer

Upon the lips let loose from lair

A fire’s greatest gift is pure

So let that cost roll, and let it flare!
